This free event takes place in the historic Hawthorne Hotel library in Salem, MA as part of Salem Horror Film Fest.
Join NAHS Educator, David Blauvelt, as he shares a long academic interest, the history of fortune telling.
From the first dice used to play games of fortune to the importation of playing cards into Europe and onto the various divination methods used throughout the world, David will present a history of fortune telling as a mix somewhere between play and the interpretation of the will of God(s). He will discuss the invention of modern Tarot card practices and the different styles of card reading that evolved during the 19th century in Europe & America.
Come and support David and the NAHS at this exciting lecture in a historic venue! Donations will be appreciated and all on-site donations will go to the benefit of the North Andover Historical Society!
